Program Aide Wayland School Community Programs - BASE Ages 18+ Position Summary A general program-support position responsible for helping maintain safe, organized, and engaging after-school activities. The Program Aide provides direct student supervision and supports activities planned by senior program staff. Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to): Supervise students during assigned activities, transitions, snack, playground time, and dismissal. Assist with delivering age-appropriate activities planned by the Site Coordinator, Activity Leader, or Inclusion Mentor. Build and maintain positive relationships with students. Support program setup, cleanup, attendance procedures, and daily routines. Follow program policies, safety procedures, and behavior-support expectations. Support inclusion programming and assist students to participate successfully. Model appropriate program practices and provide day-to-day assistance to Youth Leaders in Training and newer staff, as directed. Communicate concerns promptly to the Site Coordinator or designated lead staff. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other assigned activities. Perform additional reasonable duties assigned by the Site Coordinator or WSCP Director. Role Boundaries May supervise students during assigned activities but does not formally supervise, evaluate, or discipline employees. Supports activity planning but is not primarily responsible for creating the site's curriculum or monthly activity schedule. Does not independently modify student support plans, medical plans, or behavior plans. Does not independently make placement, staffing, or disciplinary decisions. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Experience working with children in a school, camp, recreation, childcare, or youth program is preferred. Ability to supervise groups of children and follow established routines. Strong teamwork, communication, dependability, and judgment. Ability to receive and implement feedback in a fast-paced environment. Schedule Flexible schedules are available from 2:00 PM (1:00 PM on Wednesdays) until 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM, 2-5 days per week. Substitute positions may also be available. Pay Rate $20.48-$23.99 per hour Starting pay is determined by directly related experience, education, certifications, specialized skills, scope of responsibility, and internal pay equity. Placement above the minimum rate requires documented qualifications or relevant experience. Additional Requirements and Work Environment Successful completion of a Criminal Offender Record Information (C.O.R.I.) check, Sexual Offender Registry Information (S.O.R.I.) check, and fingerprint-based background check. Citizenship, residency, or valid work authorization is required. Ability to move throughout classrooms, school buildings, playgrounds, and program spaces and to maintain active student supervision. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
