Position Description Program Specialist for Congregational Recovery Outreach Program (CROP) The Mississippi Public Health Institute (MSPHI) is seeking a full-time, organized, and community-focused professional to serve as the CROP Program Specialist. Under the guidance of the SUD Program Director, this position coordinates the day-to-day operations, administration, and outreach activities of the Congregational Recovery Outreach Program (CROP) — a faith-based behavioral health initiative funded by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH). The CROP Program Support Specialist serves as a key point of coordination between MSPHI, partner churches, behavioral health providers, and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-driven, and genuinely committed to bridging the gap between faith communities and accessible behavioral health services across Mississippi. Job Duties Program Coordination & Administration Coordinate the day-to-day operations of CROP under the direction of the SUD Program Director, ensuring program activities are implemented on schedule and in compliance with DMH grant requirements Maintain comprehensive and current program documentation, including activity logs, partner records, reports, and presentations Work with the CROP evaluator to track program data and participant records on a monthly and annual basis in accordance with MSPHI organizational standards and funder reporting expectations Enter program progress updates and activity data into designated tracking systems as directed Prepare progress reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for funder review and grant compliance Church & Community Outreach Conduct statewide outreach and recruitment of churches and congregations to participate in CROP, building a robust and growing network of faith-based partners Establish and maintain positive, ongoing relationships with partner churches, behavioral health providers, and external stakeholders to support long-term program sustainability Monitor partner churches and behavioral health providers to verify that referral processes and program activities are carried out appropriately, timely, and in accordance with program guidelines Cultivate strategic partnerships with community organizations, mental health providers, and substance use recovery programs to expand CROP's reach and impact Help promote and ensure that churches promote the CROP Pastoral Care modules, and pastoral care counseling Events & Communications Serve as the primary coordinator for CROP events and outreach activities, including the annual Mental Health-Faith Based Summit, working with a planning committee and under the direction of the SUD Program Director Collaborate with communications contractors to ensure the CROP website remains current, social media content is active and engaging, and program materials accurately reflect CROP's mission and activities Create and distribute program-facing materials, presentations, and updates as needed to support church partners, stakeholders, and the public Professional Development & Other Duties Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and professional development trainings as assigned Represent MSPHI and CROP professionally in all community and partner interactions Perform other duties as assigned by the SUD Program Director or organizational leadership Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, case management, or a closely related role Prior experience working with faith-based organizations, behavioral health providers, or nonprofit programs is strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously Excellent written and verbal communication skills; professional proficiency in English required Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective relationships with diverse community stakeholders including faith leaders, clinical providers, and funders Ability to manage grant-related deliverables, track program outcomes, and support compliance reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with data entry and record management systems Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team Cultural humility and a genuine commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities, with sensitivity to faith-based and African American communities in Mississippi
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Mississippi driver's license and reliable personal transportation; travel to partner sites across the state is required Availability for occasional evening or weekend events and trainings as needed to support program activities Must successfully pass a background check in accordance with MSPHI organizational policy Work Environment This position operates in both office and community-based settings. The CROP Program Specialist will regularly travel to partner church sites, community venues, and event locations across Mississippi. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required to support program activities and events. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
