Job Description

The Instructor and Program Coordinator, Biomanufacturing Training Biotechnologies Division, is a twelve month faculty position that develops courses and training programs in partnership with the MIT Technologist for Advanced Manufacturing Program (TechAMP) in biomanufacturing. This position will partner with the Wake Tech Apprenticeship Division, Customized Training Departments within the NCCCS, biotech companies from across the state of North Carolina, NC universities and colleges, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and international biomanufacturing companies. This position will be based at the Wake Tech East Wake Campus in Wendell, NC. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily.   • Assists in the coordination of the new MIT TechAMP biomanufacturing training program, to be developed and offered in conjunction with NCSU and Wake Technical Community College
  • Instructs courses in Biomanufacturing, with domain-specific expertise (e.g. fill-finish, drug production, downstream processing, automation).
  • Develops new lecture material and course modules including course syllabi, presentation slides, team activities and assessments catered to college, company and student needs including in-person and virtual material
  • Acts as Wake Tech's Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the following subject areas: BioIndustrial, BioAutomation, Biomanufacturing, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Filling of Drug Products
  • Oversees adjunct industry trainers and lab personnel to include hiring supervision, assignments, scheduling, coordinating training activities, goal setting, and evaluations.
  • Collaborates with the Wake Tech Apprenticeship Division and Customized Training Directors (CTDs) across the state and their respective community colleges to determine industry training needs and execute course delivery as courses or as apprenticeship programs Performs lab related activities, such as course setup, lab materials preparation, autoclave operations, lab material ordering, equipment usage and service monitoring.
Researches, designs and develops class and laboratory activities relevant for assigned courses on processes related to area of expertise Develops certificate programs related to the area of expertise Promptly responds to new and existing requests for course modules by developing appropriate training solutions based on industry needs Works with management and cross-functional teams to strategically plan a roadmap of future training and development needs and participates in meetings and committees with industry clients and other stakeholders Maintains effective working relationships with industry representatives, state-wide collaborators, community college staff and the general public Serves as a representative of the college at industry related conferences and meetings, biomanufacturing forums and advisory boards
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Exceptional written and oral communication skills Exceptional organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task with demonstrated commitment to follow-through expeditiously Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of learning transfer Ability to select training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the intended audience Ability to analyze and interpret regulatory guidelines Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of internet resources Willingness to learn and expand knowledge base
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree preferably in bioengineering, engineering, or a life science related field. Five years of experience working in a cGMP environment, with domain-specific expertise in biomanufacturing (e.g. fill-finish, drug production, downstream processing, automation). Or equivalent combination of education and experience Valid Driver's license and approval required by the College's liability insurance carrier
Preferences:
PhD degree preferably in bioengineering, engineering, or a life science related field. Ten years of experience working in a cGMP environment Experience supervising a team Experience functioning in a leadership role while performing project execution Experience creating and delivering in-person and virtual training programs
