EDUCATIONAL
Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or related discipline, or equivalent life experience.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in working with people who are blind or visually impaired, ability to assess customer's needs, sensitivity to the adjustment process, ability to be supportive, knowledge of community agencies and resources, public relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General duties include prevention of blindness programming (vision screenings and educational programming for preschoolers and adults) and required paperwork associated with contracts; assist with Agency's Training and Support Services (Social Services) program as needed; and supervise the Access Technology Support Group providing assistance when needed to the group or individual.

Agency Prevention of Blindness Program:
Schedule and conduct preschool and adult vision screenings and follow-up as necessary. Complete necessary statistical forms for all funding sources. Promote screenings to local civic organizations, day care centers, preschools, local industry, senior centers, social service agencies, etc. Promote and conduct educational programming to local civic organizations, day care centers, preschools, local industry, senior centers, social service agencies, etc. Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers to assist with vision screening programs as well as drivers for the TSS program. Assist with the Agency's low-cost eye care program. Keep abreast of current developments in vision screening instruments and methodology, and to some extent, in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and visual dysfunction. Responsible for Agency Training and Support Services (Social Services)/Access Technology caseload: Assist with completion of required intake forms, referrals to other agencies when necessary, and follow-up to ensure prompt delivery of service. Assist with transportation and escort, including volunteer drivers. Assist clients with Access Technology needs, support, and training - both individually and in a group setting. Maintain accurate records of services which are provided to each client. Assist with the completion of necessary statistical forms for all funding sources. Keep current on latest developments in services to the blind, related medical advancements, etc. by reading professional journals, attending conferences and training seminars with the President/CEO's authorization.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid PA driver's license and auto insurance and have access to an acceptable motor vehicle Criminal background check Child abuse check/Mandated Reporter Training for children/at-risk adults FBI fingerprint report Complete other tasks and assignments as required by the President/CEO and any other duties that may be required to maintain the smooth operation of Agency functions.
