Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Northeast TN Change Works Program Coordinator to lead community-driven harm reduction initiatives focused on fostering positive change in underserved communities. Job Summary The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mobile syringe service program (SSP), Northeast Tennessee Change Works. This hands-on position coordinates mobile outreach events, volunteers, program logistics, participant services, data collection, inventory, community engagement and outreach. The Program Coordinator provides person-centered and trauma-informed harm reduction services to people who use drugs, in alignment with harm reduction principles. They will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other partners throughout Northeast Tennessee. The position supports overdose prevention, health education, referrals, resource navigation, and community outreach while helping reduce stigma and barriers to care. The position also performs administrative and operational responsibilities necessary to ensure the SSP is organized, accessible, compliant, and responsive to the needs of participants and the communities it serves. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee day-to-day SSP operations to ensure services are accessible, person-centered, and consistent with organizational policies and applicable requirements. Coordinate mobile SSP outreach activities, including driving and operating the mobile unit van, managing county schedules and locations, coordinating staffing and volunteers, ensuring adequate supplies, and addressing other logistical needs. Provide supportive, non-clinical participant services using a comprehensive harm reduction, trauma-informed, and participant-centered approach. Provide individualized education and support on safer injection practices, overdose prevention, infectious disease prevention, harm reduction, and other health topics; connect participants with HIV/HCV testing, healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, recovery, and supportive services; and assist with accessing basic needs and community resources, including food, clothing, and hygiene supplies. Represent the SSP at community events, outreach activities, meetings, and other opportunities that promote community education, engagement, and awareness. Manage SSP social media accounts to support community outreach, provide accurate public health information, promote harm reduction services, and reduce stigma related to substance use and people who use drugs. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential SSP documentation, participant and program records, and data submissions in accordance with organizational policies, regulations, and program requirements. Monitor and regularly inventory syringes, harm reduction materials, and other program supplies to ensure adequate availability. Prepare and submit monthly or as-needed orders for syringes, harm reduction materials, and other SSP supplies through appropriate purchasing and requisition processes. Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and objectives of the program.
Qualifications Minimum:
High School diploma Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Northeast Tennessee service area for mobile outreach, community events, meetings, and partner engagement. This will include occasional evenings, weekends, or non-traditional hours based on program needs. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, be comfortable operating a large cargo van, and possess or be willing to obtain an "F" endorsement on driver's license. Ability to safely lift and move boxes and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, de-escalation, and sound judgment skills. Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, or similar software. Data entry experience. Ability to understand and follow applicable federal, state, and organizational policies and regulations related to participant privacy, confidentiality, data security, and syringe services. Demonstrated understanding of harm reduction principles and practices, including syringe services, overdose prevention, safer use practices, and risk reduction. Experience working respectfully and effectively with people who use drugs and individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences to provide non-clinical support, education, referrals, and resource navigation. Demonstrated ability to use trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally responsive, and stigma-free approaches. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other service providers. Ability to coordinate referrals and facilitate connections to healthcare, behavioral health, treatment, recovery, and community-based services. Ability to monitor inventory, prepare supply orders, and follow purchasing and requisition procedures.
Preferred:
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) credential or willingness to obtain. Associate or bachelor's degree in public health, social work, behavioral health, human services, healthcare, or related field. Experience using REDCap software platform. Pay:
From $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
