Status:
Regular Part-time, Non-Exempt, Benefited Up to 27 hours a week
Hourly Wage:
$21.00 Under the direction of the Promise Director, the Promise Specialist supports the City's Promise Program by assisting with youth focused initiatives such as child supervision, afterschool activities, and the Millcreek Youth Council. This position is also responsible for coordinating with other Promise Department staff to ensure smooth program operations and helping with City-sponsored events.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1.
Help facilitate the City's Promise Program, including but not limited to, child supervision at Bud Bailey Apartments, local afterschool programs, and the Millcreek Youth Council. 2. Ensure compliance with City youth protection requirements when duties involve regular and repeated care, supervision, guidance, or responsibility of minors. 3. Coordinate with Promise Department staff to ensure program operations run smoothly. 4. Manage on-site volunteers at Promise programs and events. 5. Ensure accurate and consistent data-keeping in programs. 6. Attend City-sponsored events as required. 7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
1. Graduation from high school or GED required; 2. Two (2) plus years' experience related to above duties preferred. 3. Valid Utah Class D Driver's License required. 4. Service-oriented experience is a plus. 5. Experience working with children is preferred. 6. Passion for wanting to improve the lives of others; especially youth. 7. Community minded.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to operate a personal computer and competency using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). 2. Ability to plan a long-term project. 3. Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with community partners, employees, program participants, and the public. 4. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. 5. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing (i.e. by phone, email, text, and in-person). 6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information concerning minors, families, volunteers, program participants, and City operations. 7. Knowledge of general office maintenance and practices and operation of standard office equipment. 8. Ability to use tact and diplomacy in stressful situations associated with public interaction. 9. Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments. 10. Ability to establish and maintain comprehensive records and files.
WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
Environment:
Work is performed primarily at program and event sites located throughout Millcreek City, and some work in a standard office environment at City Hall. Travel to different sites outside City boundaries to attend meetings may also be required. Light physical effort and usually comfortable working positions. 2.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 3.

See in the normal visual range with or without correction 4.
Hearing:
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. 5.
Attendance:
Employee is expected to be available to work normal business hours Monday through Thursday with Department Head discretion to offer flexibility with scheduling options.
