Precious Time Child Development Center | Richmond, VA Ready to lead in a center where leadership stays close to the classroom? Precious Time Child Development Center has supported families in our community for more than two decades, including through our ongoing partnership with HCA hospitals, and through our Inclusion Program for children with diverse needs and abilities. We're building out our leadership team and need an Early Childhood Program Coordinator who already knows how a licensed childcare center runs day to day. Here, leadership isn't a desk job removed from the classroom — it's staying connected to children, families, and teachers while keeping the whole operation running smoothly. A Role for Someone Who's Already Led This isn't a first leadership position. We need someone who can step in right away: covering for the Center Director when she's out, keeping classrooms staffed and at ratio, and making sound calls under pressure without needing to be walked through. What This Role Covers Overseeing daily operations alongside the Center Director, including direct supervision of teaching staff Building staffing plans, managing classroom coverage and ratios, and covering breaks Onboarding new hires and coaching current staff toward stronger performance Observing classrooms to keep curriculum and program quality on track Keeping required records, documentation, and files current and audit-ready Handling family-facing moments — enrollment, orientation, and day-to-day communication Staying ahead of Virginia licensing, health, and safety requirements Fielding staff and operational issues as they come up, and solving them Taking the lead on-site whenever the Center Director is unavailable What You'll Bring A minimum of 2 years working in a licensed childcare setting, professionally Real leadership or supervisory experience in childcare — not just time in a classroom Hands-on familiarity with staffing, ratios, coverage planning, and compliance work A working knowledge of what Virginia licensing actually expects from a center Sound judgment, clear communication, and the organization to keep several things moving at once The confidence to coach and direct a teaching staff, not just support one Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain it quickly Eligibility to operate the center's van when needed Credentials and experience that satisfy Virginia's licensing requirements for this position A background as an Assistant Director, Program Coordinator, Director, Site Supervisor, Education Coordinator , or in a similar childcare leadership capacity is a strong match for what we need. We're glad to develop teachers who are growing toward leadership — but this particular opening calls for someone who's already operated at the center-administration level, beyond running a single classroom.
