Position Summary The Night Shelter Facilitator coordinates CAPS' rotating church-based shelter program during the cold-weather season. This role recruits and prepares host churches, supports church shelter coordinators, helps ensure safe and consistent shelter operations, and connects guests with CAPS staff and community resources that support movement toward stable housing. Key Responsibilities Shelter Coordination Recruit churches to serve as host sites and program partners. Orient and train church shelter coordinators, volunteers, and other participants; schedule follow-up meetings as needed. Confirm that host churches are prepared to provide safe shelter, meals, staffing, transportation coordination, and other required supports. Provide clear program information to prospective guests and community partners. Respond to urgent questions and provide timely support to church shelter coordinators during shelter operations. Coordinate with CAPS staff to connect guests with housing-focused resources, referrals, and other appropriate services. Promote consistent implementation of CAPS policies, safety practices, confidentiality requirements, and shelter procedures. Community Engagement and Partnerships Promote the Night Shelter Program to churches, community organizations, prospective partners, and the public. Represent CAPS professionally and help community members understand its mission and services. Build and maintain relationships with faith communities, service providers, civic organizations, and other partners that strengthen shelter operations and guest support. Provide the Executive Director and Executive Board with information that supports program planning, policy discussions, and fundraising efforts. Data, Reporting, and Operational Support Create and maintain accurate contact information for churches, volunteers, and individuals interested in participating at all levels. Ensure shelter guest information and services are entered accurately and promptly in HMIS. Prepare program updates and attend CAPS Board or Executive Board meetings when requested during the shelter season. Coordinate required Point-in-Time and other regional or state counts in accordance with applicable guidance and deadlines. Stay current on reporting requirements, community resources, and relevant deadlines. Attend regional Planning Council meetings when needed. Work with the Executive Director to monitor the shelter program's budget, financial stability, and operational needs. Required Qualifications At least two years of experience in community development, human services, social work, volunteer coordination, shelter operations, or a related field. Experience working with people from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn and accurately use HMIS and other required systems. Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, collaborate with staff and volunteers, manage changing priorities, and respond calmly to urgent situations. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel among participating shelter sites in Suffolk during the assignment. Pay:

$17.25 - $18.25 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 per week
