Role:
Directs the daily operations of the Home-Delivered Meal (HDM) program, ensuring nutritious meals reach homebound seniors safely and on schedule. This role provides direct oversight, leadership, and management to program staff and the program's vital volunteer force.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Prior experience in safety, sanitation, food preparation and nutrition
1 Year of experience in similar role/industry
ServSafe Manager Certification (must be obtained within 30 days) Other Skills and Experience
Prior experience in the food industry
Excellent communication and telephone skills
Experience with Microsoft Office products with Excel experience
Good organizational skills
Maintain quality standards of work performance and attendance
Good work ethic
Honest, trustworthy, ability to self-direct and work within a team
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision & Leadership Staff Supervision:
Manage, train, and evaluate the Home Delivered Meal Assistant and the Home Delivered Meal Case Worker.
Volunteer Driver Management:
Supervise the network of volunteer drivers. Lead recruitment, background screening, onboarding, and ongoing performance management. Provide training resources and orientation for new volunteers.
Workload Allocation:
Delegate daily tasks to the Assistant, coordinate client assessment workflows with the Case Worker, and assign route coverages to volunteer drivers.
Patron Relations:
Receive phone calls and voicemail messages and ensure voicemail messages are returned within 24 hours
Team Performance & Retention:
Conduct regular staff performance reviews and design volunteer appreciation and retention initiatives to maintain a reliable delivery team.
Program Operations Meal Coordination:
Create and print accurate daily route sheets. Supervise and assist with filling, sealing and loading meal trays into delivery bags.
Maintain area:
HDM area must be cleaned and sanitized daily and prepared for use the following day.
Route Management:
Oversee daily delivery routes including troubleshooting volunteer scheduling conflicts by maintaining communication with volunteer drivers regarding vacations, etc. and planning accordingly to make sure routes are always covered; including the ability to cover if a volunteer driver is unavailable and track mileage for reimbursement purposes.
Case Management Oversight:
Review client intake assessments completed by the Case Worker to verify eligibility, maintain client records, and address complex client needs.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce food safety protocols, proper temperature control during transport, and compliance with health department standards for both staff and volunteer drivers.
Medicaid Waiver program management : Process all Medicaid Care Plan contracts and maintain Medicaid System including signing, mailing, emailing and faxing case workers. Accurately process Medicaid Waiver claims including investigation of denied claims and billing for non-medical rides through the Waiver program on a monthly basis.
Reporting:
Prepare meal count numbers for Statistics officer, Bookkeeper and Executive directly each month.
Inventory:
Track supply inventory to ensure that supplies are available for the program. Coordinate with kitchen staff regarding number of daily meals needed to be prepped.
Qualifications Experience:
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in management, human services, or a related field preferred. At least 1-2 years of supervisory experience managing staff and/or a large volunteer workforce.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organization, and basic computer skills.
Requirements:
Valid Wyoming driver's license, clean driving record, and the ability to pass a background check.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand and pack food containers. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Must abide by all personnel policies and guidelines, including all matters of confidentiality, ethical communication, and safety and risk management set forth by the Executive Director and the Eppson Center's Board of Directors
RELATIONSHIPS
Supervised by the Executive Director. Works closely and maintains communication with Executive Director and all Kitchen and staff members. Communicate effectively, written and verbally, with all staff and patrons.
