Permit & Utility Coordinator Confidential Garden Grove, CA Job Details Full-time $22 - $25 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Project team coordination Customer communication Attention to detail Construction industry experience Utility coordination Time management Full Job Description Overview We are seeking an eager and organized Permit & Utility Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating permit applications, plan check submittals, utility applications, and project follow-ups for various residential and commercial projects. This role requires strong communication, organization, and attention to detail to ensure projects continue moving through the permitting and utility approval process. The Permit & Utility Coordinator will work closely with our design team, city and county departments, utility companies, consultants, contractors, and clients to help coordinate project requirements and approvals. Duties Prepare and submit permit applications, plans, and supporting documents to cities, counties, and other agencies. Coordinate initial plan check submittals, corrections, resubmittals, approvals, and permit issuance. Communicate and follow up with Building & Safety, Planning, Public Works, Fire Departments, Health Departments, and other agencies as needed. Review and organize plan check corrections and coordinate required revisions with the design team and consultants. Prepare and submit utility applications to Southern California Edison (SCE), SoCalGas, water agencies, sewer agencies, and other utility providers. Communicate and follow up with utility planners regarding applications, project requirements, approvals, and scheduling. Assist with coordination of electrical service upgrades, new services, meter and panel relocations, transformers, overhead and underground utilities, and other utility-related requirements. Track permit and utility applications to ensure projects are followed up on in a timely manner. Maintain organized records of applications, permits, corrections, approvals, utility correspondence, and other project documentation. Provide project status updates and communicate outstanding requirements to the project team. Coordinate with designers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients to obtain information needed for permit and utility approvals. Experience Experience with permit processing, utility coordination, construction, architecture, engineering, or a related field is highly desirable. Familiarity with city and county permitting processes and online permitting portals is a plus. Experience coordinating with SCE, SoCalGas, or other utility providers is highly desirable. Basic ability to read and understand architectural plans and site plans is preferred. Familiarity with construction and architectural terminology. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Click Up or similar software is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with city staff, utility planners, consultants, contractors, and clients. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also managing individual projects and tasks effectively. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once. Attention to detail and consistent follow-up are crucial for this position.
