Job Description

Job Overview A Project Manager in our industry oversees custom metal fabrication, precision machining, and on-site field installation projects. MSW & Machine takes on complex fabrication and manufacturing jobs that require a strong leader with excellent communication to manage. We are looking for an industry specific project manager to fill this role. We are requiring at least 5 years of experience within the metal industry, and 2 years of project management experience. Knowledge of Drafting, Welding, Manufacturing, Machining, Millwrighting, and On Site Construction will be needed in order to succeed in this position. A thorough understanding of mine contract and field work would be a major benefit as well. We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee these projects from inception to completion. This position demands a proactive leader who can coordinate multifaceted teams, manage project schedules, and ensure that all activities adhere to regulatory standards and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in project management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Estimation Estimate Costs:
Prepare material, labor, and outside service quotes for custom metal fabrication and machining.
Develop Schedules:
Build detailed project timelines, work breakdown structures (WBS), and milestones using tools like MS Project or Smartsheet.
Review Drawings:
Interpret complex engineering blueprints, mechanical drawings, and CAD models to validate manufacturability.
Shop Production & Machining Coordination Create Work Packages:
Issue shop documents, material take-offs, and routing sheets for cutting, welding, forming, and CNC machining operations.
Monitor Progress:
Track shop floor velocity, control material flow, and resolve production bottlenecks with shop supervisors.
Quality Control:
Ensure fabricated components and machined parts match tight tolerances and customer specifications.
Field Work & Installation Management On-Site Coordination:
Oversee field installation crews, equipment setting, and contractor workflows.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce strict OSHA and site-specific safety protocols during field operations.
Logistics & Delivery:
Coordinate final transport, rigging, and on-site delivery logistics.
Client & Financial Management Client Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for project updates, scope changes, and change orders.
Budget Tracking:
Monitor monthly work-in-process (WIP) reports, review vendor invoices, and manage owner billings.
Project Closeout:
Finalize documentation, operation manuals, and financial post-mortems.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or equivalent hands-on industry experience is reccomended.
Experience:
3 to 7+ years of project management or estimating experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, metal fabrication, or CNC machining environments.
Technical Skills:
Strong blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge. Familiarity with welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW) and CNC machining centers (mills, lathes, press brakes). Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and ERP/MRP production systems. Understanding of Project Management Softwares (Such as ClickUp)

$75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
