Full Job Description MAGA Mechanical Contractors, Inc. seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the execution, coordination, and delivery of mechanical and MEP construction projects. Our primary focus is the DC, MD, and VA industrial, commercial, and federal facilities market but our company does work nationwide. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between office administration and field operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Note:
This position can be filled by a union-affiliated employee under local collective bargaining guidelines for the right candidate.
Responsibilities Project Execution:
Manage the complete lifecycle of commercial, industrial, and federal mechanical projects from initial buyout and turnover through final closeout and commissioning.
Financial Oversight:
Take full ownership of project financials, including job cost tracking, budget management, monthly billings, schedule of values, forecasting, and the negotiation and execution of change orders.
Document Control:
Supervise the processing of project submittals, RFIs, operations & maintenance manuals, and as-built drawings.
Schedule & Operations:
Develop, monitor, and update master project schedules. Coordinate material procurement, equipment deliveries, and logistics to ensure seamless field progress.
Labor Management:
Oversee project productivity while managing relationships, field productivity, and collective bargaining compliance with union field personnel.
Client & Stakeholder Relations:
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors, engineers, and inspectors. Represent MAGA Mechanical at all progress, safety, and coordination meetings.
Safety & Quality Compliance:
Partner with field leadership to enforce strict OSHA, facility-specific, and company safety standards, ensuring quality control on all mechanical projects.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience specifically within the commercial, industrial, or federal mechanical construction sector.
Union Affiliation:
Non-union project managers with extensive experience managing work are encouraged to apply. If applying as a union-affiliated employee, must be currently affiliated with, or eligible to work under Steamfitters Local 602 or Plumbers Local 5 guidelines.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of HVAC systems, hydronic piping, sheet metal fabrication, commercial plumbing, and complex mechanical sequences of control.
Blueprint Proficiency:
Advanced ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction contract documents, including architectural plans, mechanical specifications, P&ID layouts, and submittals.
Software Skills:
Proficiency with construction project management software (such as Procore) and scheduling tools (such as MS Project or Primavera).
Background Check:
Must be able to pass federal background checks to obtain access to secure facilities.
Transportation & Travel:
Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided. Must possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and be willing to travel to job sites across the region. Travel to project sites outside DC, MD, and VA is possible but not required of the position.
Education & Certifications:
A degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but equivalent field management experience is highly valued. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
