AutoCAD Drafter / Assistant Project Manager

Job Description

Overview Skylight Development is a construction company headquartered in Harrison, New York, serving New York City, Westchester, and Connecticut. Our work includes excavation, support of excavation, foundations, structural bracing, concrete construction, civil work, sitework, and landscaping. We are seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Drafter / Assistant Project Manager to prepare shop drawings and support the day-to-day coordination of construction projects. This role combines hands-on drafting with assistant project management responsibilities. The ideal candidate can interpret construction documents, produce accurate drawings, and work closely with project managers and field teams to keep information, materials, and project documentation organized. Key Responsibilities Drafting and Technical Coordination Prepare and revise AutoCAD shop drawings for concrete, sitework, waterproofing, and landscaping scopes Develop plans, sections, details, and layouts based on contract drawings, specifications, field measurements, and project team direction Review architectural, structural, civil, and landscape drawings to identify missing information, discrepancies, and coordination issues. Coordinate drawing details with project managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals. Maintain drawing logs, revision histories, and current approved drawing sets. Prepare record drawings and as-built updates using verified field information. Assistant Project Management Prepare, submit, and track requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, product data, samples, and other submittals. Assist with quantity takeoffs, material estimates, purchase orders, and delivery coordination. Support project scheduling and track outstanding decisions, approvals, and procurement items. Assist with change order documentation, including quantities, supporting records, and pricing requests. Maintain organized project files, meeting minutes, progress reports, and action-item logs. Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel to follow up on project needs. Assist with site visits, field verification, punch lists, and project closeout documentation as needed. Required Qualifications Practical AutoCAD experience and the ability to independently produce clear, accurate construction drawings. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, dimensions, elevations, and details. Familiarity with concrete, sitework, waterproofing, and landscaping construction methods, or strong experience in related construction scopes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Ability to work collaboratively with both office staff and field teams. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of construction drafting, project coordination, or assistant project management experience. Experience preparing shop drawings for a contractor or specialty subcontractor. Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar construction software. Experience with quantity takeoffs, RFIs, submittals, procurement, and change orders. A degree or technical certificate in drafting, construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is welcome. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
