Job Description

Project Manager - Electrical Substations & Power DeliveryPosition OverviewExperienced Project Manager to lead delivery of high-voltage electrical projects including substations, power generation interfaces and utility power delivery works. The role will manage EPC execution from FEED/design through procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout while ensuring safety, schedule, budget and technical compliance. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of AIS/GIS, high-voltage systems and proven experience working with utilities and power generation clients.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead full project lifecycle for electrical/substation and power delivery projects, from scope definition and FEED through design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover.

Manage project schedule, budget and resources; develop and maintain project plans, forecasts, cashflow reports and change control processes to meet contractual milestones.

Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, contractors, vendors and utility stakeholders to ensure technical alignment and timely delivery.

Oversee procurement strategy and vendor management for high-voltage equipment (transformers, switchgear, AIS/GIS, protection & control systems), including bid evaluation and commercial negotiations.

Ensure compliance with utility standards, grid codes, national electrical codes and relevant regulatory requirements; lead design reviews and technical acceptance.

Implement and enforce HSE requirements and quality management processes on site and in project execution; chair project safety and quality meetings.

Manage EPC contractual relationships, claims, variations and commercial risk; prepare and review contract deliverables and progress reports for clients and senior management.

Plan and supervise commissioning, system integration, testing and energization activities in coordination with clients and grid operators, including witness testing and performance verification.

Identify and mitigate project risks; maintain a robust risk register and implement corrective actions to protect schedule, budget and safety objectives.

Provide leadership, mentorship and performance management to the project team; foster collaboration, clear communication and continuous improvement.

Prepare and present regular reports to clients and senior leadership, including technical summaries, schedule updates, financial status and lessons learned.

Control documentation and deliverables, ensuring as-built records, O&M manuals and closeout packages are complete and handed over to the client.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; masters degree or diploma in project management is a plus.

Minimum 2+ years of progressive project management experience in high-voltage electrical projects, substations, power generation or utility delivery, with proven EPC project delivery.

Strong technical knowledge of substations, power transformers, protection & control, AIS and GIS technologies, and power system principles.

Experience working with utilities, grid operators and power generation clients and familiarity with utility standards, grid codes and regulatory approval processes.

Demonstrated experience in procurement and vendor management for high-voltage equipment and complex electro-mechanical scopes.

Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules and commercial contracts; experience with change management and claims resolution in EPC environments.

Practical experience overseeing commissioning, testing and energization of high-voltage systems and coordinating with system operators.

Professional certifications such as PMP, Prince2 or equivalent are advantageous.

Excellent leadership, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with strong written and verbal communication.

Proficiency with project controls tools (MS Project, Primavera), cost control systems and Microsoft Office; familiarity with technical engineering tools and drawing review processes.

Willingness to travel to site locations and work in field environments; valid drivers license and ability to comply with site access requirements.
