Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Estimating Assistant is responsible for the assistance and support of the Estimating and Project Management departments in all facets of the bidding process and project management. The Assistant will be working closely with the estimators and project managers to ensure the proper distribution of bid bonds and obtaining the necessary signatures before the submittal of pre-qualification and SOQ is fulfilled on time. On occasion, the Estimating Assistant will attend pre-bid meetings and run bids. The Assistant will be responsible for the administrative support of the estimating department and communication systems for the company as well as preparing bid documents. They will also be responsible for submitting and monitoring all Blue Stakes for company projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Communication directly with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners Filing and managing Blue Stakes accounts for all jobs, ensuring paperwork is current Responsible for the organization, handling, and head-start of accounts and jobs Research, develop, and maintain contacts over the phone and internet with construction trades in various areas of job outreach, focus, and locations Solicitation of sub-contractor bids for commercial construction projects Maintain various estimating and project logs accurately and precisely Distribute required information and supply subcontractors with project information as needed Contract review and generating Requests for Information (RFI's) Assist in development of schedules for various projects Tracking of project labor and materials Organization of database of all contacts and communication Other duties and administrative tasks to assist the Estimators and Project Managers, as well as the Field Division Manager Supplementing other office administrative functions as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must have valid state driver's license or government issued ID Must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. with appropriate documentation (E-Verify) Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work Strong attention and observational abilities to small detail and descriptions Ability to read, understand, and organize construction plans and specifications Be a team-player with strong organizational skills, ability to maintain project documents, time-management skills, and computer skills Become familiar and confident in the areas of construction contract, bid deadlines, vendor purchase orders, sub-contractor contracts, AIA forms, change orders, bid bonds, and notices Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
