Fairgrounds Supervisor Company Custer County

Description The employer is hiring for a full-time permanent Fairgrounds Supervisor. The wage starts at $24.12/hr. The Fairgrounds Supervisor oversees the daily operations of Custer County's Fairgrounds, ensuring all activities and events are conducted safely, efficiently and inpliance with County guidelines and applicable laws. This role is responsible for managing facilities, staff and resources, coordinating a diverse range of public events and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. The Supervisor leads planning and execution of fairs, rodeos, concerts, livestock shows and othermunity events, while fostering positive relationships with the public, vendors and local organizations. Additionally, the position ensures sound fiscal management, effective personnel administration and continuous improvement of fairgrounds operations to support the County's mission andmunity engagement. Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities) These duties are the essential functions and are not all-inclusive of all duties that the incumbent performs.

Oversee daily operations of the fairgrounds, ensuring safety, efficiency andpliance with policies and laws.

Ensure the policies and directions of the Fair Board and the Commissioners are implemented and administered in an effective manner.

Working with the County Event Coordinator, the Fair Supervisor manages events including fairs, rodeos, concerts andmunity activities.

Provide coverage for and assistance to event usage as needed in an on-call status.

Supervise, hire, train and evaluate fairgrounds staff and coordinate volunteers.

Perform and supervise maintenance and groundskeeping to ensure clean, safe and operational facilities.

Inspect and maintain assigned maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies, perform or supervise preventative maintenance and upgrades on grounds, buildings and structures.

Promote fairgrounds events through public relations, media andmunity engagement.

Coordinate with other department heads and public groups for the publication of fair and event booklets, flyers and other marketing materials.

Work with superintendents, judges and awardmittees and represent the Fair Board at meetings with the Chamber of Commerce, 4-H, Junior Livestock and other groups.

Coordinate facility rentals, contracts and leases; provide tours and information to potential users.

Ensure proper administrative functions, including recordkeeping, insurance and inventory management.

Advise the Fair Board and County Commissioners on fairgrounds operations, budgets and future needs.

Responsible for Fair Board mailing of agendas, preparing and maintaining Fair Board minutes.

Non-Essential Functions

Participate in workshops, seminars and educational sessions to stay current on fairgrounds management trends and practices.

Coordinatemunity events, open houses and activities to promote the fairgrounds and strengthenmunity relations.

Assist with special projects, equipment setup and takedown, cleaning, grounds maintenance and provide backup for other staff as needed.

Facilitate training and attend meetings as required.

Perform other duties as assigned to support fairgrounds operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with FFA/4H organizations

Strong understanding of fair exhibits,petitions and livestock management

Business management, including public relations, event planning, personnel and financial administration

Property management, facility maintenance and improvement planning

Marketing, advertising, contract negotiation andmunity engagement

Accounting procedures and electronic record keeping

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)

Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Education and Experience

Associate degree or higher in agri-business, business or a related field preferred.

Minimum two (2) years of experience in marketing, advertising, event planning, facility use, maintenance or administration.

Experience in accounting or bookkeeping.

Supervisory experience (minimum two years).

Equivalentbinations of education and experience demonstrate ability to do the essential functions.

Valid driver's license.
