Adoptions Manager - Join Our Leadership Team Every animal who comes through our doors deserves a loving, lasting home. As Adoptions Manager, you'll be the person who makes that happen. Tails of Hope is a no-kill shelter serving 28 towns across Rutland County. We're looking for a warm, capable leader to run our adoption program and join the shelter's leadership team. This role reports to the Shelter Director and has a real voice in how the shelter plans, operates, and grows. You'll be the face of Tails of Hope. You'll greet adopters, donors, and visitors, and you'll lead a team of Adoptions Counselors and Coordinators in a counseling-based approach, where we act as matchmakers and educators rather than gatekeepers. You'll also lead our Humane Education Program, teaching young visitors about kindness and responsible animal care. In addition, you'll oversee our new low-cost community cat clinics. It's a growing program, and you'll help it gain traction as we expand to serve more of Rutland County. What you'll do Lead, train, and support the adoptions team, holding high standards while keeping morale strong Guide adopters through thoughtful, honest matches and make the final call on complex adoptions Oversee our low-cost community cat clinics and help build them into a lasting resource for Rutland County Oversee post-adoption follow-ups and handle returns and difficult situations with care Present weekly adoption metrics and bring ideas for improving our processes Represent Tails of Hope at field trips, community events, and adoption promotions Work closely with animal care, health, intake, and behavior teams What you bring 2+ years in adoptions, animal care, fostering, or volunteer coordination in a shelter or rescue setting Team lead or supervisory experience preferred Experience with counseling-based or open adoption practices Strong tech skills: ShelterLuv and Microsoft 365 (especially PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams) Calm under pressure, great with people, and comfortable speaking to groups, including kids Ability to safely handle dogs of all sizes and cats, and to lift up to 50 lbs Availability for weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings, plus weekday school-hour field trips Valid driver's license and reliable transportation What we offer A collaborative, mission-driven team where your voice matters Paid time off Medical, dental, and vision insurance Professional development opportunities If you believe every animal deserves a second chance and you're ready to lead a team that makes it happen, we'd love to hear from you. $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
