Job Description

The Foundation is seeking an experienced, mission-driven In-House Counsel to provide comprehensive legal, regulatory, compliance, risk management, human resources, contractual, and organizational support to the Foundation and its subsidiaries, affiliates, programs, and initiatives. This candidate will serve as a trusted legal and strategic advisor to the President/CEO, executive leadership, and senior management. The position requires an understanding of the legal and operational needs of a complex nonprofit organization, including government-funded programs, grants and contracts, healthcare and human services, housing and homelessness services, human resources, privacy, licensing, accreditation, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Maintaining the organizational status, permits, and licenses of the Foundation and its subsidiaries in good standing; proper, accurate, complete and timely maintenance of the business, legal, financial, human resources and operations files, books and records, in accordance with the Foundation's standards of care, policies and procedures, applicable laws, and grant and contract requirements; Managing and assuring the Foundation's timely, accurate and full execution, performance, compliance and reporting for all grants and contracts and funding sources of the Foundation, including without limitation: proper, accurate, complete and timely management, reporting and record keeping for grants and funding agencies of the Foundation and its subsidiaries and affiliates, all in accord with the Foundation's standards of care and quality assurance, financial systems and controls, policies and procedures, approved budgets and business plans, applicable grants and other contractual requirements and applicable laws; Manage and oversee human resources for the Foundation, including development, implementation and oversight of and compliance with personnel policies and procedures, staff and volunteer training, timely and accurate processing of payroll and payroll reports (with the assistance of a third party payroll processing company), maintenance of personnel files, attendance and time reports, and as requested, assistance with hiring, background checks, termination and other personnel matters, in accordance with the Foundation's standards of care, policies and procedures, grant and contract requirements, and applicable law; Assist in review, negotiation, management and monitoring of contracts, grants, agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other documents pertaining to the business, operations, programs, funding and services provided by the Foundation, all in accord the Foundation's policies and procedures, grant and contract requirements and applicable law; Oversee risk management, review and handling of incidents, complaints and grievances, and liabilities for the Foundation, as well as anticipated, pending or threatened legal and administrative actions or proceedings; manage insurance contracts and notices of claim or potential claims; coordinate with and oversee third party insurers, legal counsel and experts; and serve as the Foundation's primary privacy officer for HIPAA, responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws; Managing and overseeing all aspects of current and future accreditation, licensure, permitting, contractual and other regulatory, licensing and compliance matters for the Foundation, including without limitation, granting and funding agency requirements, CARF accreditation, Department of Children and Families licensing, Medicare/Medicaid, and the program and service aspects necessary to ensure the Foundation obtains and complies with applicable grants, contracts, service requirements, audits, accreditation, certification and licensure on an ongoing basis. Such program aspects and compliance matters include without limitation, implementation of electronic records system and reporting, staff training, facilities conditions, grant and funding deliverables and outcomes, quality assurance, reporting, invoicing and more; Assist in research, data collection and reporting, presentations, proposals, concept papers, grant submissions, and advocacy for social and public policies advancing the Foundation's initiatives and mission to uplift women, youth and children experiencing homelessness, including those with special challenges and different abilities, the LBTQ community, elders, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable individuals served by Lotus House; and Assist in the implementation of a broad-based community outreach, resource development and public awareness campaign and initiatives for the Foundation and its initiatives on behalf of disadvantaged women, youth and children, and development of networks, alliances and working relationships between the Foundation and other community organizations for accessing available services and resources in the community. Experience Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible legal experience. Experience working with a Non-profit organizations , Government agencies, Public-sector organizations, Healthcare or behavioral-health organizations, or similar. Demonstrated experience providing legal advice directly to executive leadership. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts and agreements. Experience with employment and human resources law. Experience with regulatory compliance, risk management, investigations, or litigation management. Experience with government grants, contracts, audits, or regulatory oversight. Pay:
$125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
