The position serves as an information specialist for older adults needing housing, as well as Medicaid application assistance. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages day to day operations and management of all agency's low-income senior housing apartment units, in two locations, including compliance with Section 42 LIHTC, planning and zoning, and other relevant regulations.
Provides mediation between tenants.
Assures that all required reports, forms and other paperwork for all housing grants and projects are completed and filed in a timely manner.
Develops and maintains a comprehensive resource list for housing needs
Provide individual assistance to older adults with housing needs, including applying for rental assistance (e.g. Section 8, energy assistance, township trustee assistance, etc.).
Provide Medicaid Application Assistance to individuals who may be Medicaid Waiver eligible
Advocate on behalf of the individual's housing needs.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS and
CHARACTERISTICS
Prefer Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge, expertise, information and skills in all areas of housing required to operate the housing program. Familiarity with Section 8 voucher program and other assistance programs. Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and web browsing. Must be a patient troubleshooter and excellent communicator with different audiences. Must be self-driven and organized, working individually and within a team environment. Must be well organized and familiar with standard office practices. Important personality traits are the ability to relate well to individuals including low-income persons seeking housing, elderly persons, state housing administrators, and social service providers. Dependability, cooperativeness, responsibility, organization, multitasking and detail orientation, and commitment to a high level of productivity are essential. Must be very organized, warm, friendly, easy going, patient and caring. Must be an experienced team player with a quick grasp of new ideas.
