EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary Located in scenic rural Western Pennsylvania, Armstrong County Community Action Partnership (ACCAP) is a respected 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1965 and one of the region's leading providers of comprehensive human services. Guided by its mission, "We empower individuals and families in Armstrong County and surrounding areas through resource mobilization, sustainable solutions, and support, thus fostering self-sufficiency and community strength," ACCAP is seeking a collaborative, mission-driven, and experienced Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of service, growth, and community impact. The Executive Director serves as ACCAP's chief executive and is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial health, operations, programs, personnel, and community presence of the organization. Working closely with the Board of Directors and leadership team, the Executive Director ensures ACCAP remains mission-focused, financially sustainable, compliant, and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves. Leadership & Organizational Oversight
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership that advances ACCAP's mission and long-term priorities.
  • Lead strategic planning and partner with the Board of Directors on governance, policy development, organizational planning, and financial oversight.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board and provide timely information to support effective oversight and decision-making.
  • Oversee ACCAP's programs, services, administration, and organizational operations, ensuring they remain effective, compliant, and aligned with the organization's mission.
  • Lead and support ACCAP's management team while promoting employee engagement, development, accountability, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure ACCAP operates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, funding requirements, contracts, policies, and grant obligations. Financial Leadership & Oversight
  • Provide executive oversight of ACCAP's financial operations and overall financial health.
  • Lead the organizational budgeting process and ensure appropriate monitoring of financial performance, program budgets, cash flow, and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, appropriate internal controls, and compliance with federal, state, local, grant, and other funding requirements.
  • Provide executive oversight of the annual financial audit and work closely with fiscal staff and program leadership to maintain strong financial accountability throughout the organization. Community Engagement & Resource Development
  • Serve as ACCAP's chief ambassador and spokesperson and build strong relationships with community leaders, government agencies, funding partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead fundraising, donor engagement, and development efforts while identifying opportunities to strengthen and diversify ACCAP's funding base.
  • Advocate for ACCAP, its mission, and the individuals and families it serves while pursuing partnerships and resources that strengthen the organization's community impact. Ideal Leadership Characteristics

  • Bachelor's degree required; a degree in business administration, finance, accounting, social services, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience within nonprofit, human services, business, finance, or a related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational leadership, financial oversight, budgeting, personnel management, and regulatory or grant compliance.
  • Strong understanding of financial management, internal controls, budgeting, and organizational financial reporting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, public communication, and relationship-management skills.
