Company Overview Safe Passage, Inc. is a dedicated 501(c)(3) organization committed to providing comprehensive support services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. With a 24-hour emergency shelter and crisis line, we strive to empower individuals in York, Chester, Lancaster, and Union counties through advocacy, counseling, and essential resources. Summary As a Crisis Advocate at Safe Passage, Inc., you will play a vital role in supporting individuals facing crises related to domestic and sexual violence. This position is essential in delivering compassionate advocacy and assistance to those in need within our community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
(Duties are illustrative and not inclusive. Individual assignments may vary.) Provide support services to adult and youth victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Provide crisis intervention through the 24-hour crisis hotline, individual and group psychoeducation. Conduct intakes, medical and legal accompaniment, and referrals. Provide Trauma Focused Advocacy and utilize tools such as danger assessments and safety planning. Complete all DCVC applications and follow up for qualified victims. Advocate and collaborate with community and state partners such as law enforcement, DSS, solicitors' offices, hospital systems, etc. Assist clients with completing court documents, specifically Orders of Protection. Crime Victims' QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience:
Successful completion of four years of college-level coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above; must have demonstrated ability to successfully assist others in crisis situations; must possess excellent communication skills and be computer literate; must have awareness and interest in the impact of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other relevant issues on Safe Passage's service population. Must complete a minimum of 26-hours domestic violence/sexual assault training and all other agency trainings as assigned.
Licenses/Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license. Must have access to a vehicle with valid insurance. Criminal Background History, Sex Offender, and Child Abuse Clearances required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Exemplary customer service skills, including dealing effectively with the public, donors, and community partners through all forms of communication. Teamwork and developing consensus. Creative and innovative techniques for performing assignments. Proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; business correspondence formatting. Time management with the ability to redirect when needed. Computer applications related to the work include Microsoft Office Professional Applications. Standard office administrative practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment. Perform basic research and prepare reports and recommendations, successfully complete assigned projects or programs. Organize own work, coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction. Ability to effectively collaborate with others in support of Safe Passage's mission and values. Communicate effectively with co-workers, superiors, the general public, representatives of public and private organizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
