Job Description

The Purchasing Clerk performs clerical and administrative support duties for the Purchasing Department. Responsibilities include preparing and processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders, obtaining routine vendor quotations, maintaining purchasing records and files, receiving and verifying deliveries, distributing purchased goods to designated departments, entering data into financial and procurement systems, and preparing routine reports. Work involves following established purchasing policies, procedures, and guidelines to support the procurement of goods and services for the Center. The employee is responsible for ensuring purchasing documents are complete and accurate, maintaining organized records, and providing courteous customer service to staff and vendors. Duties require attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments. Assignments are generally routine to moderately complex and are performed in accordance with applicable Center policies and procedures, procurement requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The employee exercises independent judgment within established procedures and refers unusual situations, exceptions, or policy-related matters to the Purchasing Manager. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Purchasing Manager and is reviewed through completed work, reports, and discussions for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established procedures
