Queens Campus•Charlotte Position Summary The Library Services and Operations Specialist oversees the daily operations of the Charlotte Library's primary service point, and manages circulation, interlibrary loan services, and supervision of up to 20 student employees. This staff position leads training and development for all access services student employees, supports faculty and student research needs across disciplines, and contributes to library-wide initiatives that enhance access, equity, safety, and student success. Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Charlotte Library, this position advances library services through continuous process improvement and outreach and engagement initiatives. Minimum Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree Experience working in an academic or public library Experience in customer service or public facing roles Attention to detail and ability to meet scheduling expectations. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and SharePoint. Familiarity with interlibrary loan operation Commitment to equitable access to expertise, support, and resources for all library patrons Commitment to working effectively as part of the library team. Preferred Education and Experience Experience with interlibrary loan operation Experience with stacks management Experience training staff in customer service or public facing roles Facility with compiling and reporting statistics. Experience using Canva, LibGuides, LibStaffer, and Zoom Knowledge of evaluation, assessment, and planning methods related to public service in academic libraries. Job Duties Oversees daily operations of the library's primary service point, ensuring welcoming, efficient, and student-centered environment. Manages resource sharing (interlibrary loan, document delivery, collegial agreements) Processes interlibrary loan requests daily and generates reports as needed. Oversees stacks management Answers routine questions about library services, policies, spaces, and access and refers research questions to librarians as appropriate Applies library policies consistently and helps manage patron issues. Supervises, trains, and evaluates part-time and up to 20 student employees, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance development Assists with Student Employee Development Program to strengthen service quality and enhance student staff competencies Coordinates and supports library outreach and engagement initiatives, orientation events, and beginning-of-semester programming Acts as Building Captain, contributing to safety planning, emergency procedures, and ongoing updates to the library's safety manual. Manages space use requests. May collaborate with other departments, such as Student Accessibility Services and Academic Success. Collaborates with library colleagues to improve workflows, enhance user experience, and strengthen delivery across access services functions. Regularly reviews and improves workflow, services, and user experience. Participates in professional development activities. Participates in inclusive team building in the Charlotte library, the Belk library, and University at large Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and university needs.
