Job Description

Job Summary:
Oneida Health is currently seeking a Full-time Surgical Scheduler to manage patient scheduling/authorizations for our OR department. In this position, you will assist patients and referring providers in the scheduling of surgical procedures at our Oneida Health Hospital. The ideal candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a team while demonstrating a strong desire to establish excellent working relationships in an organization dedicated to quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinating and scheduling surgeries as designated by physicians using a computerized scheduling system. Working as a team member within the patient services department and all other departments. Recognizing and responding appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management. Documenting work processes as required with attention to detail. Coordinating processes and routing all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements. Ensuring efficient and effective telephone communication. Following all written protocols and procedures to a t.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
Surgical scheduling or medical office experience (Required)
Knowledge of Medical Terminology Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to perform job-related duties, which may include sitting for extended periods, moving files, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.
