DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Surgery Scheduling
Schedules all procedures performed in the ASC
Follows scheduling process to obtain all necessary patient demographics, health insurance information from physician's office.
Schedules appointments and procedures according to physician block times.
Coordinates schedule with time and equipment availability. Identifies conflicts and adjusts schedule as needed.
Coordinates efficiently with clinical, administrative, and anesthesia teams to optimize surgical flow and patient safety.
Follows procedure for notification of changes in schedule ( i.e.: cancellations, rescheduling, notifying patient navigator when a total joint has been posted.)
For new patients, assigns medical record number and enters all demographic and insurance information into EMR.
Informs patients of their scheduled arrival times prior to surgery. Pre-Operative Screening
Assists in reducing surgery cancellations through thorough pre-screening processes.
Performs initial chart and medical history review.
Identifies potential concerns for ASC candidacy based on facility and anesthesia patient selection criteria.
Escalates charts for anesthesia review prior to scheduling.
Communicates with physician office regarding any additional clearances/preadmission testing requirements.
Maintains accurate, concise documentation within the physician office and surgery center
EMR. QUALIFICATIONS
Current LPN License
Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience preferred
Experience in surgery scheduling, pre-admission testing, perioperative services, or an ambulatory surgery setting strongly preferred
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Personal Qualifications:
Must exhibit courteous communication skills and the ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in the performance of job duties. Presents self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
