This role has the responsibility and authority to verify and keep records of outgoing shipments and prepares items for domestic and international shipment by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items for outgoing shipments to verify information against invoices, orders, or other records. Determines method of shipment. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers. Stamps, stencils or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Follows all procedures and work instructions. Handles all parts or materials carefully to avoid damage or personal injury. Uses computer to access information concerning location, lot number, part count status, or the due dates of orders. Keeps all work areas clean and free of obstructions. Performs all tasks with the highest regard to inventory accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Shipping experience is preferred, but other acceptable experience includes: warehouse, stockroom and receiving in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Basic computer skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs. and frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
