This role is crucial in maintaining inventory accuracy, streamlining receiving procedures, and ensuring the warehouse team adheres to company standards and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and experience in high-volume warehouse environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the receiving department, including unloading, checking, and putting away inbound goods. Supervise and lead a team of receiving associates, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality standards are consistently met. Develop and implement receiving procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy. Coordinate with purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies or delivery issues. Maintain accurate records of incoming shipments and reconcile against purchase orders. Ensure proper handling of goods to prevent damage and maintain product integrity. Monitor performance metrics and report on department KPIs such as receiving time, accuracy, and labor efficiency. Schedule and prioritize incoming deliveries in coordination with carriers and internal departments. Train new staff and enforce safety regulations and company policies. Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) as needed. Conduct regular audits and cycle counts to verify inventory accuracy in receiving.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (5+ years) in warehouse receiving or logistics management, preferably in a fast-paced distribution environment. Prior leadership or supervisory experience required. Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and inventory software. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team. Forklift certification preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree a plus.
