Overview The Materials Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing all Materials Management operations, including Purchasing, Courier Services, General Stores, Receiving, and Lawson inventory management systems. This position ensures efficient departmental operations, inventory control, cost containment, budget management, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and coordination of support services throughout the hospital. Responsibilities Department Operations
Manage the Materials Management Department.
Plan, organize, and direct activities in Purchasing, Courier Service, General Stores, Receiving, and Lawson operations.
Develop departmental goals and objectives.
Establish performance and productivity standards.
Monitor departmental activities and implement improvements to enhance service and delivery efficiency.
Coordinate Materials Management activities with other hospital departments.
Keep Administration informed of departmental activities, needs, and operational issues. Inventory & Supply Chain Management
Provide Materials Management consultation for all hospital departments regarding usage, inventory control, standardization, and cost containment.
Develop and implement inventory control systems utilizing Lawson.
Maintain an effective charging system for materials and supplies through Lawson. Quality, Safety & Compliance
Develop and maintain quality assurance programs.
Develop and maintain departmental safety programs.
Participate in Product Evaluation activities.
Participate on the Environment of Care Committee.
Attend all required safety training programs.
Follow Hospital Exposure Control Plans for Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens. Financial Management
Develop and prepare the annual operating budget.
Ensure the department operates within approved budget allocations.
Maintain records and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Apply cost-effective measures in department operations.
