Supply Chain Manager Confidential Search — West Michigan About the Opportunity A privately held Tier 1 manufacturing company in West Michigan is seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead and improve its purchasing, material planning, inventory management, receiving, material handling, scheduling, supplier relationships and shipping. This is an important hands-on leadership position within a manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will lead their team bringing a data-driven, accountable approach to supply chain management while also being comfortable working directly with the day-to-day movement of materials throughout the facility. The ideal candidate understands that an effective supply chain starts with customer service, requires disciplined planning, strong supplier relationships, accurate inventory and cost tracking, efficient material flow, dependable shipping and receiving, accountability throughout the organization and ends when the customer receives shipment. Key Responsibilities Supply Chain & Purchasing Lead purchasing, material planning, transportation, inventory management, and supply chain activities. Develop and maintain effective material planning and replenishment strategies. Manage supplier relationships, performance, pricing, lead times, and delivery. Monitor material availability and proactively address potential shortages. Establish appropriate inventory levels and improve inventory turns. Analyze demand, forecasts, customer requirements, and production schedules to develop material requirements. Proficiency in customer portals and managing customer scorecards Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and other commercial conditions with suppliers. Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, freight costs, inventory investment, and supply chain risk. Monitor supplier capacity and identify potential supply disruptions before they affect production. Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information within the company's ERP system. Shipping, Receiving & Material Handling Oversee daily shipping and receiving activities. Ensure incoming materials are received within the ERP system, inspected as required, accurately documented, and properly stored. Ensure finished products are packaged, staged, shipped accurately and on schedule and within the ERP system. Oversee freight pickups, deliveries, and transportation requirements. Oversee proper identification, labeling, storage, and movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Works on the plant floor to understand the flow of material to ensure availability to production when needed while minimizing unnecessary movement and inventory. Maintain organization and accuracy in warehouse and material storage areas. Identify and implement improvements to material flow, storage, handling, and warehouse efficiency. Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for loading and unloading trucks. Inventory & Operations Identify and eliminate excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory. Establish appropriate safety-stock and reorder-point strategies. Monitor inventory accuracy and coordinate cycle-count and inventory-control activities. Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Sales to ensure alignment between customer demand and material availability. Support new product launches and engineering changes from a supply-chain perspective. Develop and monitor key supply chain performance metrics. Improve purchasing, inventory, receiving, material-handling and shipping processes. Support continuous improvement throughout the supply chain and material-flow functions. Leadership Lead and develop members of the purchasing, warehouse, receiving, material-handling and shipping team. Establish clear expectations and accountability for the supply chain function. Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, and adherence to company procedures. Manage the team efficiently Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement. Communicate supply chain issues and risks to senior management in a timely manner. What We're Looking For 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, purchasing, materials management, warehouse management, or a related manufacturing environment. Experience managing purchasing, material planning, inventory, and logistics functions. Experience with receiving, day-to-day material movement and shipping. Strong understanding and full utilization of the MRP/ERP system. Demonstrated experience improving inventory accuracy and inventory turns. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
APICS/ASCM
certification such as CPIM or CSCP. Experience in a Tier 1 manufacturing environment. Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. Experience with supplier development and cost-reduction initiatives. The Ideal Candidate The right person will be a hands-on supply chain leader who is comfortable working strategically, in the details and on the plant floor.

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
