Job Description

Overview We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement, strategic sourcing, materials management, inventory control, and supplier performance for a growing manufacturing operation. This role is ideal for a hands-on supply chain leader who combines strong purchasing and negotiation skills with the ability to improve processes, control costs, and maintain a reliable flow of materials to support production. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across departments, developing strong supplier partnerships, and leading continuous improvement efforts throughout the supply chain. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management Lead purchasing activities for raw materials, components, and other production requirements. Develop procurement strategies focused on cost, quality, availability, lead times, and overall supplier performance. Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, agreements, and contracts. Evaluate supplier proposals and make sourcing recommendations based on business needs. Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Manage international purchasing activities to support a consistent and cost-effective flow of materials. Establish supplier performance measures and regularly evaluate quality, delivery, service, and cost. Address supplier performance issues and coordinate corrective actions as needed. Identify and implement improvements to purchasing processes, controls, and procedures. Strategic Sourcing & Cost Improvement Analyze purchasing and material data to identify sourcing opportunities and cost reduction initiatives. Develop sourcing strategies that improve the company's competitive position while maintaining quality and service expectations. Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers and alternative sources of supply. Partner with engineering, operations, and product development teams on new materials, suppliers, and product requirements. Lead initiatives designed to reduce material costs and improve total cost of ownership. Track and communicate measurable savings generated through sourcing and negotiation activities. Materials & Inventory Management Oversee inventory management for raw materials and production-related components. Establish and maintain appropriate minimum and maximum inventory levels. Improve material storage, organization, identification, and inventory controls. Ensure physical inventory counts and system quantities remain accurate. Provide oversight of receiving activities and resolve discrepancies. Partner with appropriate departments to maintain accurate ERP/MRP information, including bills of material, costs, routings, and related material data. Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, and working capital utilization.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, materials management, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment. Direct purchasing experience with raw metals, including steel and aluminum. Experience sourcing and purchasing from international suppliers, including suppliers within Asian markets. Demonstrated success negotiating supplier agreements and achieving measurable cost reductions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven leadership skills and the ability to build productive relationships across all levels of an organization. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working within ERP/MRP systems. Leadership Profile The successful candidate will be a practical, results-oriented leader who can balance day-to-day supply chain needs with longer-term improvement initiatives. This individual should be comfortable setting expectations, providing constructive feedback, developing employees, and holding others accountable for results. We are looking for someone who can lead through change, solve problems proactively, and work collaboratively with operations and senior leadership. The ability to build an effective team, delegate appropriately, and maintain a positive, solutions-focused approach is important to success in this role. Preferred Qualifications Experience with manufacturing-focused ERP/MRP platforms. Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement training or certification. Master's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
