The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing shipping and receiving operations across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position will build and develop effective logistics teams, improve freight utilization and cost control, and ensure materials and finished products are received and delivered safely, accurately, and on time. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience managing multi-site logistics in a manufacturing environment. This individual will establish consistent processes, strengthen communication between departments, accuracy, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Oversee shipping, receiving, material movement, and logistic activities across three manufacturing facilities. Build, train, and lead high-performing shipping and receiving teams. Establish clear roles, responsibilities, procedures, and performance expectations for logistics personnel. Coordinate daily inbound and outbound shipments based on production schedules, customer requirements, and project priorities. Improve on-time delivery performance by identifying constraints and proactively resolving scheduling, staffing, staging, and transportation issues. Ensure shipment quantities, documentation, labeling, packaging, and delivery details are accurate. Develop and maintain standardized shipping and receiving processes across all facilities. Evaluate carriers and logistics providers based on cost, reliability, capacity, service, and delivery performance. Review freight invoices and investigate discrepancies, damages, shortages, and delivery claims. Ensure completed products are properly staged, packaged, documented, and ready for shipment. Maintain accurate shipment and receipt transactions within the company's ERP system. Improve communication between Shipping, Receiving, Production, Purchasing, Project Management, and customer-facing teams. Develop and track logistics KPIs, including on-time delivery, shipment accuracy, receiving accuracy, freight cost, damage claims, and carrier performance. Identify process gaps and implement continuous-improvement initiatives to increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability. Ensure all logistics activities comply with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable safety and transportation regulations. Support inventory accuracy through proper receiving, material identification, documentation, and transaction controls. Assist with staffing plans, performance reviews, coaching, and corrective actions as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Five or more years of logistics, shipping, receiving, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment. Previous leadership experience managing shipping and receiving teams. Experience supporting logistics operations across multiple facilities strongly preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Preferred Experience Steel fabrication, construction manufacturing, or heavy industrial manufacturing experience. Experience with NetSuite or a comparable manufacturing ERP system. Knowledge of flatbed, LTL, full-truckload, expedited, and oversized freight. Physical and Work Requirements Ability to regularly travel between multiple manufacturing facilities. Ability to work in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments. Ability to walk production and logistics areas and remain standing for extended periods. Flexibility to support operational issues outside normal business hours when necessary. Ability to comply with all required personal protective equipment and workplace safety requirements.
