Job Description

Inventory Manager - Architectural Aluminum Extrusions Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Inventory Manager with a strong background in architectural aluminum extrusions and long-length materials . This position will be responsible for managing inventory accuracy, material flow, warehouse operations, and the scheduling of incoming and outgoing material. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with MRP systems, warehouse equipment, and the unique handling requirements associated with aluminum extrusions up to 30 feet in length . Key Responsibilities Manage inventory levels, accuracy, organization, and material flow for architectural aluminum extrusions and related materials. Oversee daily warehouse activities and provide direction to material handlers and warehouse personnel . Coordinate the receipt, storage, movement, staging, and shipment of long-length aluminum extrusions. Schedule and coordinate material deliveries arriving at the warehouse , ensuring adequate space, labor, equipment, and timing are available. Schedule and coordinate outbound material shipments , including staging and loading requirements. Maintain accurate inventory records and transactions using MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or comparable systems . Monitor inventory discrepancies and coordinate cycle counts, physical inventories, and corrective actions. Safely operate and/or direct the operation of 4-way forklifts , including equipment such as Hubtex or Combilift . Ensure proper handling and storage of aluminum extrusions up to 30 feet in length , including consideration of material protection, rack capacity, aisle clearance, and safe movement. Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Production, Shipping/Receiving, Sales, and other departments to ensure material availability and on-time deliveries. Establish and maintain efficient warehouse layouts and material locations. Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and applicable forklift and material-handling requirements. Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, material utilization, and delivery scheduling. Train, coach, and provide daily direction to material handlers and warehouse employees. Required Qualifications 3+ years of inventory or warehouse management experience, preferably in aluminum extrusion, metals, manufacturing, building products, or a similar environment. Direct experience working with architectural aluminum extrusions strongly preferred. Experience managing long-length materials , preferably materials up to 30 feet. Proficiency with SAP, Oracle, or another MRP/ERP inventory management system . Demonstrated experience scheduling both inbound and outbound material deliveries . Ability to safely operate a 4-way forklift , such as a Hubtex or Combilift, or demonstrate strong experience with similar specialized material-handling equipment. Experience supervising or directing material handlers and warehouse personnel . Strong understanding of inventory control principles, warehouse organization, receiving, shipping, and material staging. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inventory records. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in architectural aluminum, aluminum extrusion, fenestration, glazing, curtain wall, storefront, or related industries. Experience with specialized racks and storage systems for long aluminum extrusions. Forklift certification or documented experience operating specialized forklifts. Experience with barcode scanning, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory tracking technologies. Experience coordinating multiple deliveries and shipments while balancing warehouse capacity and production requirements. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment. Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment. Ability to work around and handle long, oversized aluminum extrusions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work around warehouse equipment for extended periods. Ability to work safely around material up to 30 feet in length and coordinate its movement through warehouse and loading areas.
