Nissho of California, a leading landscape services company, is searching for a hands-on, strategic Fleet Manager to own the performance, safety, and reliability of our vehicles, equipment, and shop operations. Lead and develop a high-performing team of mechanics and shop techs—set standards, coach daily, and build a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. Manage the full fleet lifecycle across light/medium-duty trucks and trailers, small engines, landscaping hand tools, and heavy equipment—spec, acquire, track, maintain, and retire. Oversee preventive maintenance and repairs for: Vehicles and trailers Small equipment: weed whips/string trimmers, hedge trimmers, extended-head trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc. Landscaping hand tools and attachments Big iron: mini excavators, Dingos/compact utility loaders, skid steers, Kubota tractors/UTVs Own inventory management—parts, consumables, fluids, tools—and implement systems to reduce downtime and shrinkage. Optimize shop workflows, vendor relationships, warranties, and service contracts to hit uptime and cost targets. Build and manage the fleet budget—forecast, track, and report on spend; identify savings without sacrificing safety or performance. Champion fleet safety, compliance, and documentation (including inspections, telematics, and driver/equipment operator standards. Partner closely with Operations to prioritize equipment for projects, schedule repairs around production, and keep crews productive. What you bring Proven experience managing mixed fleets in construction, landscaping, or related industries. Strong mechanical aptitude across gas/diesel, hydraulics, small engines, and electrical diagnostics; comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed. Track record leading mechanics/technicians—hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Budget-conscious mindset with the ability to negotiate with vendors and control costs. Safety-first leadership and working knowledge of compliance standards and best practices. Clear, professional communication with field leaders, drivers/operators, and executives.
