The Role The Director of Transportation and Logistics will serve as a strategic partner to Supply Chain leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, driving the optimization of international and domestic transportation routes, managing logistics carriers, ensuring exceptional service levels and safety performance, overseeing the transportation management system, and controlling costs to enhance operational efficiency and achieve organizational objectives. \n
Responsibilities Develop and Execute Transportation Strategy:
Design and implement strategies to optimize international and domestic transportation routes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals for efficiency, cost, and service quality.
Manage Logistics Carriers and Contracts:
Oversee relationships with logistics carriers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with terms to achieve cost-effective and reliable service.
Ensure Performance and Safety Standards:
Monitor and enhance carrier performance, focusing on service levels, on-time delivery, and safety compliance to meet or exceed industry and company standards. Oversee Transportation Management System (TMS): Lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the TMS to streamline operations, improve visibility, and support data-driven decision-making.
Control Costs and Drive Efficiency:
Analyze transportation costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement initiatives to reduce expenses while maintaining service quality. Develop core
KPIs:
On Time Delivery, Freight cost per ship method, per pound and service levels. Use TMS dashboards to conduct carrier performance metrics both domestically and internationally. Collaborate with
Cross-Functional Teams:
Partner with Procurement, Product Management, Finance, Sales and other stakeholders to align transportation strategies with broader business objectives and ensure seamless operations.
Monitor Industry Trends and Compliance:
Stay informed of regulatory changes, market trends, and emerging technologies in transportation and logistics to maintain a competitive edge and ensure compliance.
Lead and Develop Teams:
Manage and mentor a team of transportation and logistics professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Other accountabilities and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's Degree or related experience 7-10 years procurement experience in transportation and logistics management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven expertise in managing international and domestic transportation networks, carrier relationships, and transportation management systems. Strong understanding of cost analysis, contract negotiation, and regulatory compliance in transportation. Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Proficiency with TMS platforms and data analytics tools. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive strategic initiatives Periodic travel may be required up to 15% \n
