Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Pupil Transportation Driver with 7D license and play a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of students to and from school and related activities. This energetic position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on students' daily lives while maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for operating various types of vehicles, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations, and providing a welcoming environment for all passengers. Responsibilities Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles in accordance with state and local laws, transportation safety regulations, and school policies. Assist students with boarding and exiting vehicles, including providing wheelchair assistance and managing behavior to ensure passenger safety. Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary. Maintain communication with dispatchers and school personnel using clear, professional language to respond quickly to traffic changes or emergencies. Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking vehicle codes, emergency stop procedures, and heavy lifting requirements. Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs courteously and professionally while ensuring a positive experience for students. Adhere to traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and commercial driving standards to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or transit bus operation with a strong understanding of transportation safety regulations. Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting students or handling equipment safely. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, emergency response procedures for transportation, and state/local commercial driving laws. Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse student populations. Experience working with children or in senior care environments demonstrating patience, behavior management skills, and student discipline techniques. Familiarity with wheelchair assistance protocols and paratransit services to accommodate all passengers' needs. Strong writing skills for completing reports, logs, or incident documentation accurately. Multilingual abilities can enhance passenger interactions; experience in customer service is highly valued.
