Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will be responsible for building relationships with both internal and external customers and assisting our team of professional drivers to safely and efficiently meet our customer's expectations, while maximizing fleet utilization, continued growth and profitability. This position requires the ability to multitask, self-motivate, and communicate effectively. Must have ability to positively interact with all levels of management, other team members and drivers. Transportation industry experience preferred, dispatching experience a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. This position directly supervises dispatchers and drivers and may require being "on-call" after-hours and weekends. 2. Keep current with transportation regulations, industry trends and best practices. 3. Communicate with internal and external customers to maintain strong working relationships and serve as point of contact to answer questions and resolve problems or conflict to minimize delays and maximize utilization. 4. Work with sales to establish pricing and foster customer relationships. 5. Monitor market trends to stay current on lane pricing and rating. 6. Negotiate with customers regarding freight rates, volumes and commitments. 7. Broker freight to outside carriers and negotiate rates as necessary. 8. Ensure broker contracts/files are accurate and complete. 9. Coordinate between supervisor, customers and drivers to balance safety and profitability with customer expectations. 10. Reinforce compliance with safety, fuel / routing, fuel mileage, idle time and customer service, coach drivers as necessary. 11. Manage Driver KPIs and improve driver performance and retention. 12. Ensure freight orders and load confirmations are entered into Transportation Management Software (TMS) system to generate freight bills and respective invoices. 13. Plan loads to maximize customer and driver satisfaction while improving utilization and minimizing cost. 14. Communicate effectively to ensure drivers have necessary information to successfully complete load assignments. 15. Continuously improve fleet utilization to minimize dead head miles. 16. Coordinate with Maintenance Department to schedule equipment maintenance and repairs. 17. Ensure equipment and freight are tracked using company's TMS to service customer needs. 18. Fast paced work environment which requires successful candidate to multitask, be flexible, organized and constantly assess shifting priorities. 19. Other duties as assigned or directed
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
1. 6 - 12+ months experience in relevant field preferred. 2. Strong social media skills preferred. 3.
Proficient Computer skills:
Microsoft Office, E-mail, and Internet based tools 4. Must have proficient typing skills (average 40 WPM) 5. Strong verbal, written, multi-tasking, and communication skills 6. Ability to work with truck drivers and independent contractor drivers required. 7. Knowledge of relevant equipment, regulations, policies, procedures, and strategies preferred. 8. Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road preferred. 9. Familiar with North American geography and the highway system and relevant points preferred.
