Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to lead our transportation operations and ensure the seamless movement of goods across multiple locations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee vehicle fleet management, coordinate logistics, and optimize transportation processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will drive the success of our supply chain operations, ensuring compliance with all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and industry standards. Duties Manage and monitor the entire vehicle fleet, including scheduling maintenance, tracking vehicle performance, and ensuring optimal utilization using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and Vehicle Dispatch Software. Coordinate with internal teams, drivers, and external partners to plan routes, dispatch vehicles, and ensure timely deliveries while adhering to DOT regulations. Utilize GPS and GIS technologies to analyze routes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs across road transportation operations. Oversee freight shipping & receiving processes, ensuring accurate data entry, documentation, and compliance with shipping standards. Communicate effectively via phone calls and internal communication channels to manage dispatching tasks, resolve issues promptly, and maintain excellent customer service. Maintain detailed records of vehicle maintenance, driver logs, fuel consumption, and compliance documentation in systems like AS400 and Oracle TMS. Handle phone call management with professionalism, demonstrating strong phone etiquette while managing inquiries related to freight status or transportation schedules. Support supply chain activities by collaborating with 3PL providers (Third-Party Logistics), optimizing logistics strategies, and enhancing overall transportation planning. Conduct analysis of transportation data to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, or service enhancements. Experience Proven experience in fleet management or road transportation operations with a strong understanding of logistics principles. Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or Vehicle Dispatch Software is highly preferred. Knowledge of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and vehicle dispatching software to optimize routing and fleet utilization. Experience working within supply chain environments involving freight shipping & receiving, 3PL coordination, or logistics planning. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a focus on phone call management and customer service excellence. Ability to analyze data effectively using analysis skills to inform decision-making processes related to fleet operations. Understanding of DOT regulations related to vehicle operation, driver hours-of-service compliance, and safety standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel for data entry and reporting; familiarity with AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus.
