Overview Join our dynamic team as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Driver, where your skills will drive safety, reliability, and exceptional service. In this vital role, you will operate various types of vehicles—including transit buses, school buses, and paratransit vehicles—delivering passengers safely and efficiently. Your dedication to transportation safety regulations, customer service excellence, and child and senior care will ensure a positive experience for all riders. Duties Safely operate commercial vehicles such as transit buses, school buses, and paratransit vans in accordance with state and local driving laws. Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, child care needs, or senior care requirements, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. Follow all transportation safety regulations, including emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and emergency stop procedures. Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle interior and exterior; perform pre-trip inspections to identify potential issues before each trip. Communicate effectively with passengers using clear English or multilingual skills; provide information about routes, schedules, and safety protocols. Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays by adjusting routes or informing passengers promptly. Enforce passenger behavior management policies to ensure a safe environment for children, seniors, and all riders. Skills Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit bus operation with a valid CDL license. Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and state/local commercial driving laws. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for wheelchair assistance or loading/unloading equipment safely. Familiarity with emergency response procedures for transportation incidents and CPR certification is highly desirable. Excellent defensive driving skills coupled with quick response capabilities to traffic changes or hazards on the road. Experience working with children or seniors; understanding of child discipline policies and behavior management techniques.
