THE POSITION

The Bridge Maintenance Coordinator position with the Department of Transportation, District 9 offers an exciting opportunity to lead important projects that keep our bridges safe and reliable. You will guide seasonal work, coordinate repairs, and support crews across multiple counties. This role allows you to use your leadership skills while working directly with teams that make a real impact on the traveling public. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees seasonal bridge maintenance activities, supports county crews, and manages project planning and coordination across District 9. It also supervises building maintenance staff and ensures timely communication with engineering and design units. As a Bridge Maintenance Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

Program Planning:

Develop county bridge repair programs, analyze needs, and prepare project lists and estimates

Project Coordination:

Work with engineers, crews, and agencies to obtain permits, schedule work and secure required materials

Field Oversight:

Inspect repair work, interpret structural plans, and supervise complex construction activities

Emergency Response:

Ensure prompt handling of urgent bridge repairs and support crews during critical situations

Material Management:

Track salvaged materials, monitor inventory, and arrange transfers across counties

Staff Supervision:

Direct building maintenance personnel and promote safe and efficient work practices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS)

Telework:

You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years as a Highway Foreman 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.
