Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in the daily operations and activities of the Warehouse. Provide floor-level leadership, direction, training, and support to assigned employees while ensuring operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, safety, space utilization, and compliance with established company procedures. The Supervisor, Warehouse Operations is expected to lead by example, actively participate in warehouse activities, and coordinate with other departments to ensure cargo is received, managed, consolidated, stored, and prepared for loading in a timely and accurate manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in daily warehouse operations within the assigned area and other areas as required by operational demands and company needs. Train, supervise, provide directions to, and evaluate the performance of assigned warehouse employees. Assign workloads and responsibilities to warehouse employees based on operational priorities, staffing, and business requirements. Oversee the receiving, consolidation, movement, and preparation of cargo for loading within the assigned area. Consolidate cargo whenever operationally possible to maximize efficiency and space utilization. Coordinate and participate in the loading of cargo when required to ensure shipments are properly prepared, verified, and loaded according to established procedures. Manage and maintain the CFS area in accordance with CBP and company procedures and applicable requirements, including proper cargo identification, segregation, inventory control, and documentation. Ensure bonded and other controlled cargo is properly identified, segregated, and managed in accordance with established procedures. Monitor the status of cargo and communicate operational issues, delays, discrepancies, and other concerns to the Manager, Warehouse Operations and appropriate departments. Operate a computer and utilize the automated Warehouse Management System and other warehouse-related software to monitor and manage warehouse activities. Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and customers, when necessary, of items related to operational, priorities, and issues. Operate and demonstrate the proper use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other specialized warehouse equipment as required, while supporting the operation as needed. Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained and that users perform routine inspections and required care. Observe all applicable health and safety regulations and maintain the warehouse in a clean, safe, organized, and orderly condition. Assist management in establishing, implementing, and maintaining warehouse standards, procedures, and operational controls. Work closely with the Manager, Warehouse Operations on space planning, unloading requirements, cargo segregation, inventory control, and operational flow. Monitor warehouse space utilization and assist in planning the placement and movement of cargo to maximize available space and maintain efficient operational flow. Ensure assigned team members follow established receiving, inventory, loading, safety, and documentation procedures. Identify operational issues and recommend practical solutions to improve productivity, accuracy, space utilization, and overall warehouse efficiency. Maintain regular and punctual attendance and demonstrate the level of reliability, accountability, and leadership expected of a supervisor. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management based on operational requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
The successful candidate should demonstrate knowledge and ability in the following areas: Warehousing and inventory control methods and procedures. Warehouse operations, procedures, equipment, and terminology. Receiving, cargo handling, consolidation, and loading processes. CFS and bonded cargo handling procedures. Space utilization and inventory management techniques. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, supplies, and cargo. Automated warehouse management systems and related software. Principles and practices of employee training, supervision, and work direction. Effective communication and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and participate in warehouse operations and evaluate personnel. Ability to utilize warehouse space efficiently and effectively. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and effectively. Ability to learn and utilize computer terminals and warehouse-related software. Ability to work independently with limited direction. Ability to observe and enforce health and safety regulations. Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Ability to identify operational problems and implement or recommend appropriate solutions. Ability to prioritize multiple operational requirements in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position: Work is performed while standing, sitting, walking, and moving throughout the warehouse. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, and other physical warehouse activities. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium-weight items of up to 50 pounds. Requires working around moving warehouse equipment, vehicles, and other operational hazards while following established safety procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College education, technical education, or relevant field certification preferred. Minimum of 5 years of warehouse, logistics, distribution, or related experience. Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Florida driver's license. Forklift operator certification preferred but not required. Ability to successfully complete required company safety and equipment training. English and Spanish proficiency is required
