PART-TIME VACANCIES IN OUR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
. Under direction, this hourly, part-time position performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance of streets, parks, electrical systems facilities which include the repair, restoration, construction, reconstruction, cleaning, groundskeeping, and general rubbish collection service; performs other related work as required. Shift, weekend, and holidays work may be required. The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Performs repair and maintenance to streets, sidewalks, parkways, sewers, park grounds and building maintenance; To include but not limited to weed, mow, cultivate, trim, edge, water spray, clean, repair, and paint benches; equipment, sign posts, refuse receptacles, etc.; Removes, repairs, restores or installs signs, posts, rock or rock products, Portland cement, asphalt concrete or similar products used in the maintenance of streets; Sweeps, cleans, picks up, collects and disposes of cans, paper, bottles and other debris, performs elementary adjustments and preventative maintenance to hand tools and light equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned or as situation require
Knowledge of :
Methods, materials, and equipment used in maintenance of streets, parks, electrical systems or facilities. Ability to : Use various tools and equipment; Work with a minimum of supervision; Follow written and oral instruction; Able to stand or sit for long periods of time; Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist or turn body as needed to perform certain duties of the job; Able to work days, nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed; Effectively handle stressful situations; Assume responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment; Develop necessary skills from on-the job training and meet the standards of performance or higher for the classification.
Education/Training :
Graduation from high school or its academic equivalent.
Experience :
One (1) year experience in gardening, street work or semi-skilled labor experience.
License :
A valid California Class C driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements:
• Must meet approved physical and pre-placement medical standards for the position. Disaster Service Worker
