We are seeking a motivated and hardworking General Laborer to join our heavy civil construction team here at C.K. Excavation. The ideal candidate will have experience working on underground utility projects and be willing to perform a variety of labor-intensive tasks in support of grading, excavation, utility installation, and site development operations. This position requires working safely around heavy equipment, trench excavations, and active construction operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform general labor tasks including shoveling, raking, digging, site cleanup, and material handling. Assist with installation of storm, sewer, and water utility systems. Grade check and maintain proper elevations using grade stakes, lasers, and other surveying tools. Assist crews with trenching, bedding, pipe laying, backfilling, and compaction activities. Work safely around existing underground utilities, water mains, and other utility infrastructure. Assist with the installation and setting of precast structures including manholes, catch basins, vaults, and related components. Support equipment operators, pipe layers, and foremen as needed to maintain production goals. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment. Follow company safety policies and participate in daily safety meetings. Maintain a clean and organized job site. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in heavy civil construction, underground utilities, or site development. Experience installing storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water systems. Ability to grade check and understand construction plans and elevations. Experience working around water mains, utility pipes, and trench excavations. Familiarity with precast concrete structures and utility installations. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment. Knowledge of excavation and trench safety practices. Requirements Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis. Reliable transportation to and from job sites. Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Valid driver's license preferred; CDL is a plus.
