General Laborer - Sheet Metal Fabrication (Growth Opportunity) Dosco Sheet Metal - Millbury, MA In business since 1987 Dosco Sheet Metal is a close-knit, family-style fabrication shop that handles both custom job-shop work and production runs. We're looking for a motivated, mechanically inclined person who wants to learn and is ready to take on more responsibility over time. Position Overview This role supports daily shop operations with general labor tasks, including material handling, part prep, machine assistance, and basic fabrication support. You'll work closely with our operators and shop leadership, learning new skills along the way. You'll start with material handling and prep, then train on tasks like assembly, layout, and general fabrication support as you prove yourself. With time and performance, opportunities such as press brake operation may open up. Schedule Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Full-time Overtime is optional. When the shop gets busy, we may ask if you're available (weekdays until 4:30 PM, Saturdays 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM), but it's never required. Responsibilities Assist with material handling and shop workflow Load/unload parts, move material, and stage jobs Perform basic fabrication support: deburring, cleaning, grinding, drilling, tapping Help operators with part prep and job setup Use a tape measure, hand tools, and basic shop equipment Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe Follow all shop safety procedures Communicate clearly with shop leadership about job status and needs Required Skills Mechanically inclined and comfortable with tools, machines, and hands-on work Ability to follow direction carefully and learn new tasks quickly Strong desire to learn and grow into more advanced shop roles Basic math skills (fractions, decimals) Reliable attendance. In a team of six, every person matters. Ability to stay productive in a fast-paced shop environment Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move material safely, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to stand for the shift in a shop environment (noise, metal dust, moving equipment), with or without reasonable accommodation Nice to Have (Not Required) Forklift experience Experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment Basic knowledge of hand tools or shop equipment Pay $18-$22/hr, based on mechanical aptitude, reliability, and how quickly you learn shop tasks.
