Windham Millwork, Inc

General Labor — Architectural Woodworking

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Custom architectural millwork since 1957. This is the role that keeps every other department moving, and the one where people learn the trade. Windham Millwork is a leader in providing custom architectural millwork and woodworking solutions and a trusted name in the commercial construction industry, specializing in the fabrication and installation of high-quality, custom wood products. Our shop runs six departments under one roof, and we are looking for someone to support all of them while learning the trade. About the Role You'll work across material handling, the machine room, production, custom, finishing, and shipping, supporting the operators and carpenters in each. No woodworking experience is needed. You'll stage material, feed machines, help assemble casework, prep components for finish, and stage and crate completed work for shipment. As you learn each department, you and your supervisor will pick the one that fits you, and your training will focus there. What You'll Do Move and stage lumber, sheet goods, hardware, and finished casework through the shop by hand, cart, and pallet jack. Feed and offload machines alongside the operators, keeping the CNC router, panel saw, and sanders supplied and running clear. Support the assembly benches in Production and Custom, handing off components, holding parts during glue-up, and pulling hardware to the station. Sand and prep components ahead of the finishing room, working to the finish schedule for each job. Change blades, bits, and tooling as directed, and report machine problems promptly so they can be repaired. Label, protect, and stage completed casework on the rails in the sequence it will be loaded and shipped. Wrap, crate, and load finished product, checking each piece against the packing list before it goes on the truck. Handle finished faces with care at every step, since components move through the shop already finished and are not refinished afterward. Post job information accurately in our ERP as work moves between jobs. Work at a pace that protects the schedule for the departments downstream. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and keeping your area and equipment in good order. What You'll Need Reliable attendance and a willingness to ask questions instead of guessing. Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16, or the willingness to learn it in your first week. Ability to follow verbal and written instruction, including cut lists, packing lists, and hardware schedules. Basic computer skills for production tracking. Reliable transportation to Windham, and 18 years of age or older. Nice to Have Any experience in a shop, warehouse, or manufacturing environment. Forklift or pallet jack experience. Shop class, vocational training, or hands-on woodworking of any kind. A valid driver's license. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 75 lbs. Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements for most of a nine to ten hour shift. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
