Job Description

at Northeastern Chimney Solutions in Fair Haven, Vermont, United States Job Description Northeastern Chimney Solutions is looking for a dependable general laborer to join our team in the Rutland, Vermont area. This is a hands-on helper position involving a variety of work throughout the year, including chimney and masonry projects, landscaping, gutter cleaning, and snow removal. Previous chimney or masonry experience is not required. We're primarily looking for someone who shows up reliably, listens well, is willing to learn, and can become someone the crew can depend on. What You'll Do Your responsibilities will vary depending on the season and the jobs scheduled that day.
Tasks may include:
Assisting with chimney cleaning and repair projects Carrying tools and materials up and down ladders Working from ladders and roofs Cleaning fireboxes and wood stoves Assisting with masonry work Lawn mowing and weed whacking Collecting, loading, and hauling away leaves, brush, and other yard waste Gutter cleaning Snow shoveling and other snow removal work Loading, unloading, and organizing tools, equipment, and materials Other general labor tasks related to the jobs we're performing You will not be expected to come in knowing how to inspect chimneys, rebuild chimneys, operate specialized equipment, or perform skilled trade work on your own. You'll work alongside experienced employees and can learn additional skills and take on more responsibility over time. What We're Looking For Experience is helpful, but reliability and attitude matter more to us. We're looking for someone who: Shows up reliably, on time, and ready to work Listens to instructions and communicates well Is willing to learn new skills Stays productive and looks for what needs to be done next Asks questions when unsure Works well as part of a crew Follows through on assigned work and makes sure it is completed properly Can gradually take on more responsibility without needing constant supervision We don't expect a new employee to know everything or work independently on day one. Our goal is to train someone who can eventually be trusted to complete the work they're assigned, communicate when something comes up, and handle more responsibility with less supervision. Physical & Work Requirements Applicants should be comfortable: Performing physically demanding outdoor work Working from ladders and on roofs Working outdoors during hot summer weather, including some work on roofs Working outdoors in cold weather when performing snow removal Lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and materials Working around soot, dust, masonry materials, leaves, brush, and other debris Using basic landscaping equipment such as weed whackers A valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation to work are required. Company vehicles and necessary job equipment are provided for work performed during the day. Schedule This is primarily a full-time position averaging approximately 30-40 hours per week . Our typical workday is approximately 8:00 AM-4:00 PM , although hours may vary depending on workload, weather, travel, and the jobs scheduled. Our workload is seasonal, with generally more hours available during the fall and fewer hours during parts of the winter. Pay $16-$20 per hour , depending on relevant experience and skills. Pay will be reviewed after a minimum of 90 days. Employees who demonstrate reliability, learn additional skills, take on more responsibility, and become capable of completing work independently may be eligible for additional pay increases.
