Description Position Summary The Beautification Coordinator oversees Keep Pearland Beautiful's (KPB) beautification efforts at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center (SRRC), the Yard Wise Demonstration Garden, and the Pearland Community Garden. This role leverages technology to document and manage community service and volunteer opportunities, develops and maintains tracking systems for garden zones and conditions, manages the annual Community Appearance Index, and supports weekly community service tasks including roadway cleanups and facility landscaping and janitorial work. Specific Duties and Responsibilities The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Essential Functions Oversee KPB beautification efforts at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, Yard Wise Demonstration Garden, and Pearland Community Garden. Develop and manage a tracking system or log documenting garden zones, condition, and maintenance needs. Utilize technology to document and manage community service and volunteer opportunities across all KPB sites. Recruit, schedule, and coordinate community service groups and volunteers for beautification projects. Manage the annual Community Appearance Index by identifying and analyzing corridors throughout the City of Pearland for year-over-year litter condition mapping. Assist with weekly community service tasks, including roadway cleanups and facility landscaping and janitorial duties. Maintain accurate records and reporting related to volunteer hours, garden conditions, and beautification project outcomes. Act as a front-line advocate for Keep Pearland Beautiful with community members, volunteers, and partner organizations. Assist in maintaining a clean, safe working environment. Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned by management. Education, Experience, and Licenses High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience with volunteer coordination, community outreach, or environmental programs preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Firm grasp of technology, with the ability to develop and manage new digital systems for tracking volunteer activity and site conditions. Ability to design, implement, and maintain logs or databases for garden zones, conditions, and community service scheduling. Ability to analyze geographic and environmental data to support litter condition mapping for the Community Appearance Index. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, volunteers, and the general public. Ability to present and maintain a positive image of Keep Pearland Beautiful at all times. Ability to confidently model positive beautification and environmental stewardship behaviors and recognize opportunities to educate volunteers and the community. Ability to fulfill requests or otherwise provide services, accurate information, or assistance in a courteous and timely manner. Ability to actively listen and demonstrate competence and interest to the general public, citizens, and co-workers. Basic knowledge of general office equipment and procedures such as data entry, scheduling, timekeeping, and email or other means of electronic communication. Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, spelling, and good numerical skills. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including but not limited to: PC, calculator, telephone, and copier. Knowledge of gardening, landscaping, and general beautification best practices. Knowledge of litter prevention, recycling, and generally regarded best practices with regard to environmental stewardship.
