Grant Township Job Summary:
The Road Maintenance Equipment Operator position is the sole employee of Grant Township, and is responsible for road maintenance, snow removal, and other related work. This position works primarily under the direction of the Township's Trustee, and secondarily under the direction of the township's Road Supervisor.
Duties :
Monitor township road conditions and report to Road Supervisor township road sections to be scheduled for repair and maintenance;
Work with Trustee and Road Supervisor to develop regularly updated repair and maintenance schedule for township roads;
Operate heavy equipment and machinery to repair and maintain township roads, ditches and easements, to include (with authorization) delivery of road materials required;
Work independently upon identified road sections on an ongoing basis;
Operate equipment to regularly mow ditches and easements as necessary;
Operate equipment to remove snow and ice from roadways as needed;
Remove reported/observed dumped items from township roadways;
Use hand tools and small machinery to complete tasks;
Oversee/perform all routine equipment cleaning and maintenance;
Maintain equipment yard and equipment shed, keeping work areas organized and all areas clear of debris, plant material, and trash;
Properly dispose of dumped items, old tires, equipment maintenance by-products and trash in a timely manner.
