Job Description As a Supervisor at Indigo Dispensary, your primary responsibilities will be maintaining a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere for our customers, while ensuring our business operations operate efficiently and compliantly. You will be assisting Indigo Management in overseeing and leading our team to success, in which you must always maintain the utmost professionalism and business acumen. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in customer service and hospitality, problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to lead by example and oversee a team with positivity. This role also involves having to learn and adapt to state and local cannabis regulations. Qualifications
2+ years of retail, cannabis, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
1+ year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Previous experience working in a licensed cannabis dispensary strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of cannabis products, strains and consumption methods
Knowledge of New Jersey cannabis regulations and compliance requirements
Familiarity with METRC and other cannabis platforms preferred
Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team while maintaining a positive and professional work environment
Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to handle difficult customer situations professionally
Ability to enforce company policies, procedures, and compliance standards consistently
Strong understanding of cash handling, inventory control, and loss-prevention practices
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable making decisions and resolving operational issues independently
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Must be 21 years of age or older and meet all applicable state requirements for working in a cannabis establishment
Must demonstrate integrity, accountability, reliability, and professionalism Summary of Key Roles and Responsibilities (Included but not limited to)
Team Leadership:
Supervise and support retail staff during daily operations, ensuring employees follow company policies, SOPs, and performance expectations
Daily Operations:
Oversee opening and closing procedures, floor coverage, customer flow, and overall day-to-day dispensary operations
Customer Experience:
Ensure customers receive knowledgeable, professional, and compassionate service while addressing questions, concerns, and escalated customer issues
Compliance:
Maintain strict compliance with New Jersey cannabis regulations, company policies, and required procedures, including age verification, purchasing limits, product handling, and METRC-related requirements
Inventory Control:
Monitor product movement, assist with inventory counts, identify discrepancies, and ensure products are properly secured, displayed, and tracked
Train and coach staff on products, sales techniques, compliance requirements, customer service, and company
SOPs Performance Management:
Provide feedback and coaching, recognize strong performance, address policy violations, and communicate employee performance concerns to management
Security & Safety:
Maintain a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, cash, cannabis products, and company property. Report incidents or security concerns promptly
Communication:
Serve as a key communication link between management and the retail team, ensuring important updates, policies, and operational changes are properly communicated
Problem Solving:
Handle operational issues, customer complaints, staffing challenges, and other day-to-day concerns while escalating significant matters to management when appropriate
Sales & Business Goals:
Support management in achieving sales, customer service, and operational goals while maintaining a compliant and positive retail environment.
