Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our automotive service team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers bringing their vehicles in for maintenance and repairs. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and customer service will ensure a seamless experience from initial vehicle intake to the completion of service. You will coordinate with technicians, estimate repair costs using estimating software, and communicate effectively with clients to build trust and satisfaction. Responsibilities Greet customers warmly, listen carefully to their vehicle concerns, and accurately document their needs. Prepare detailed repair estimates utilizing auto estimating software, ensuring transparency and accuracy for clients. Communicate repair recommendations clearly, upselling additional services such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, or suspension work when appropriate. Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, track progress, and ensure timely completion of services. Maintain detailed records of all service transactions, including parts used, labor hours, and customer interactions. Explain vehicle diagnoses and repair procedures to customers in an understandable manner while providing excellent client communication. Handle cash transactions professionally, including invoicing and payment processing, while maintaining accuracy in cash handling procedures. Skills Proven experience as a Service Writer or in auto service management within a dealership or independent shop setting. Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in automotive diagnostics, transmissions, oil changes, air brakes, shocks & struts, tire service, and collision repair. Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and confidently. Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust. Dealership experience or auto service background preferred; familiarity with automotive repair processes is essential. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles if needed. Pay:
$37,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
