The Customer Service Representative is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to contractors, landscapers, and wholesale customers. This position assists customers with product selection, order processing, payment transactions, inventory inquiries, and order fulfillment while maintaining a professional, organized, and welcoming customer service area. The representative serves as a key point of contact for customers, helping to ensure positive customer experience and supporting the daily operations of the garden center. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Greet and assist customers with product selection, order placement, invoicing, and general inquiries. Provide outstanding customer service by addressing customer needs and directing specialized questions to appropriate team members. Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle various forms of payment. Assist management with preparing customer quotes, invoices, and sales orders. Answer incoming phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and delivery schedules. Coordinate with nursery, yard, and delivery personnel to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Maintain current knowledge of plant materials, hardscape products, seasonal inventory, promotions, and pricing. Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary. Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock shortages or discrepancies to management. Assist with receiving, stocking, merchandising, pricing, and organizing products throughout the garden center. Maintain clean, attractive, and safe customer-facing areas. Support sales initiatives by providing customers with product information and promoting available products and services. Follow company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. 1-3 years of customer service, cashiering, payment processing, or retail sales experience required. Previous experience in customer service, retail sales, garden center, nursery, landscape, or related industries preferred. Experience operating POS systems and basic computer applications preferred. Cash handling and payment processing experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer service and relationship-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to accurately process cash, check, credit card, and account transactions. Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Knowledge of plant materials, nursery products, landscaping supplies, irrigation, or hardscape materials preferred. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and customer-service skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS systems, and other customer service software. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements. Work Environment Garden center, nursery yard, greenhouse, warehouse, and office environments with frequent interaction with customers, vendors, and employees. May require occasional overtime, weekend, or seasonal hours based on business needs. Must have reliable transportation. Work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Pay:

$17.00 - $19.00 per hour
